AMD X6 CPUZ

AMD is set to release the Phenom II X6 1090T and the chip has found its way into the hands of a few lucky members of the public.

Benchmarks show that its performance is faster than Intel’s Core i7 Quad-Core in the US$300.00 range. So that would be the Intel i7-860, the i7-920 and the i7-930 to name a few. Initial benchmarks seem to indicate that it’s performance is better than these, but less than the Xtreme edition of the i7 chips.

The processor offers AMD’s Turbo technology which overclocks the remaining cores once less than 3 are in use. The new processors are designed to work in most AM2+/ AM3+ motherboards.

These new parts are expected to ship on April 26th 2010.

More choice and perhaps confusion for those looking to build systems right about now!
